RE: XM Radio Satellite Antenna - Where to mount?
I used silicon to attach my Sirius antenna to the top of the plastic black tank vent, ran the wire into the trailer on the inside of the ventpipe and drilled a hole at the top of the ventpipe on the inside of the tt. I pulled the wire through the hole and sealed it with silicon. The ventpipe is in a closet right behind the tt radio, so I just ran the wire through the wall and now I get my Sirius just plugging the antenna into my Stiletto.
RE: Installed some 1156 LED board mounted LEDs (pics)
Cool, I did the same thing. The difference is that your lights have twice as many led's in them than mine and I paid $20 each at Pep Boys. Mine are bright enough for us......... so far. Good job!
What are full hook-ups?????????
Ok guys,
I am leaving for my first trip to a few RV campgrounds as opposed to state parks or state beaches. I have never hooked up to full hook-ups before, we have always boondocked before. I think I will first plug in my elec. cord, then connect my white water hose to my trailer which I have added a 90 degree adapter, a pressure gauge and a pressure regulator. Next would be the sewer, I think. I bought a hose with an 90 degree adapter that should fit the sewer pipe, according to the literature as well as a clear 45 degree adapter with a water inlet to "apparently" back-flush. I also have the sewer solution, but I don't think I need to use it since I will have "Full hookups".
I have a couple questions...........Does full hookups mean that there is a place to empty my tanks??
Are there two water spouts?? One for fresh water and one for the black tank back-flush?
Any other help with this "Sitch" would be very cool!!
HELP!!!
RE: Sirius satellite radio
I saw this method on a personal website and tried it. I mounted the antenna on top of the sewer vent pipe on the roof, ran the wire down the pipe and drilled a 1/4" hole one inch below the ceiling in the pipe in the closet. Pulled the wire through and sealed the c*&p out of the hole! No pun intended. My antenna didn't work inside either. But then again, sometimes where I live, it doesn't work outside either.....:)
Plugging the trailer power cord into an inverter??
I just got an 800w inverter. Not installed yet but I clamped it onto the battery. Just for kicks I plugged the trailer power cord into it, the inverter said it was sucking 700w from the trailer and nothing in the trailer was on, lights, etc.... I went inside and I could hear the converter running, (charging the battery, I assume). I thought, what was the load?? So I went into the converter/battery charger panel and turned off a breaker that was marked "General". The noise stopped and the inverter said 0 volts being pulled from the inverter. I turned on all the 12v lights, the shower fan and the range fan. Still 0 watts on the inverter. All the outlets worked (120v) and I plugged a drill into a 120v receptacle and turned it on, the inverter showed 235 watts. Also the fridge switched to propane. I am assuming that all the 12v accessories were running directly from the battery, and the 120v plugs are running from the inverter. I am kind of confused!! Has anyone done this? Is this NOT the "Proper" way to utilize an inverter?? Damage to the electrical system? It sure beats running an extension cord from the inverter in the basement to the bathroom for her curlers and things. Thanks in advance for your input!!
Furnace starting by itself
This is my first TT. During the "Cold" months here in Los Angeles, when I leave for work in the morning and the temp is in the low 30's, I notice the furnace is operating. On warmer days (above 35), it is not. Is this normal, some type of anti-freeze function? Also, on the last trip I took, it was in the 50's in the morning and the fan was running when I woke up, but no heat. Is this a defect??? Thanks!!!
RE: San Francisco area cgs
We have camped in The City of Napa, but in a tent while admiring the RV's. Skyline Wilderness park is great, in our opinion. They do have an RV section with full hookups and it is cheap, around $32 per night. I like the wilderness part, mountain lions often visit the campers (What a sight!!!) and the close proximity to the town of Napa is wonderful! We took a taxi into town for $10 each way, great way to wine taste without driving. Loads of great food and wine. Hope this helps!!
Wiring of my batteries
Hello all,
I am new to rv'ing, in fact we have only one trip under our belts. And on that trip (4 days) of course my 1 battery died every nightso I recharged the next day. We have learned the way we were using the power was wrong, too many lights, furnace, etc. So I put in a second battery since we will probably never go to places with hookups, we like the privacy of being in the middle of nowhere. So here is what I did, please, you veterans, let me know if you see a problem with his technique:
I installed a battery cut-off in both boxes.
Ran the red cable from the tt to terminal 1 on the cutoff in battery box 1.
Ran a cable from terminal 2 to + on battery 1.
Ran a cable from terminal 1 to the cutoff in battery box 2.
Ran a cable from terminal 2 in battery box 2 to + on battery 2.
Ran the black cable from the tt to - on battery one and from here ran a cable to - on battery 2.
I hope you can follow my details. This way I can turn off both batteries, or use one till it goes low, turn it off and turn on the other one while the first one is turned off. I can charge them separately or together, it just seems to last longer this way instead of just wiring them together.
I would appreciate your thoughts, Thanks!!
